Sempervivus Art and DesignSempervivus Art and Design was founded sixteen years ago by artists Darwin Nordin and Rebecca Watson. Initially Sempervivus started as a garden design business. Darwin and Rebecca both have an art background and experience in the garden; Darwin worked at Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens while completing graduate school and after graduation took a job at a local nursery; Rebecca had experience working in a nursery and a love for growing things. Starting the garden design business seemed like a natural way to channel creative energies and concern for the environment, while still maintaining a flexible enough schedule to engage in other artistic endeavors. Like a work in progress, Sempervivus has evolved over the years into areas of teaching, exhibit, event, graphic/web and instructional design. The creative process is hard to compartmentalize, and we both have found exploring different mediums to be a rich and rewarding experience. Education has always been an essential part of our philosophy. Finding
ways to bring: a client, a teacher, a child - closer to understanding a concept
or idea is how we ultimately hope to impact the people we work with. Darwin,
who has over fifteen years experience as a teaching artist, has been working
primarily as an artist-in-residence for the past five years. Rebecca is
currently working as an Graphic/Web Designer for the Instructional Design
Center at Seattle University. We continue to consult and do design work
on a project by project basis. If you are interested in talking to us
about a project please email us. |
